Bereits bei der Einfahrt nach Salalah werden wir von einem Turm, vielen Blumen…

…und dem schönsten Kreisverkehr begrüßt, den ich je gesehen habe. Wir merken schnell, daß die Stadt nicht viel hergibt, da sie in den letzten 50 Jahren komplett neu gebaut wurde.

Wir fahren daher auch zuerst nach Osten. Der Oman besteht zu 80% aus Steinwüste…

…und jedes noch so kleine Kaff…

…hat eine Moschee.

30 km östlich von Salalah liegt die alte Festung Taqah, welche wir bei gemütlichen 38 Grad im Schatten besteigen….

…um den herrlichen Rundumblick zu geniessen.

Der Festung angeschlossen ist ein interessantes Museum…

…welches von einem freundlichen und stolzen Omani bewacht wird….

…und einen Einblick in den omanischen Wohn- und Lebensstil vergangener Zeiten bietet.

Die viele tausende Jahre alte Ruine Sambaram….

…mit den umliegenden wunderschönen Wadis…

…und immer wieder frei umher laufenden Kamelen…

…sehen wir ebenso, wie traumhafte Palmenstrände.

Wieder zurück in Salalah besuchen wir den Palast des Sultans (einen von sieben)….

…und müssen feststellen: „Geschmack und Geld hat er!“

Ein einsamer Omani spaziert am…

….endlosen Strand im eigenartigen Licht….

..aber wir fahren zum Mittagessen in die sehr westliche Hotelanlage „Crowne Plaza“.

Ich sehe das erste Mal in meinem Leben einen Weihrauchstrauch…

…bevor unsere Reise nun Richtung Westen geht.

Das Land wird immer wieder von trockenen Wadis durchzogen.

Diese Herde Kamele habe ich heute erworben! Übrigens, Andrea kommt nicht mehr mit nach Hause….

Unser letztes Ziel für heute, ein Fischerdorf!

Bei der Rückfahrt zu unserem Schiff bekommen wir nochmals einen Eindruck von der Weite des Landes und sehen in der Ferne die Berge, welche bis zu 2800 Meter hoch sind.

  740. Ich glaube schon, dass Euch die Eindrücke fast erschlagen. Alles, das man auf Fotos sieht, plötzlich in „Echt“. Gigantomanie ohne Grenzen so lange das Öl reicht.
    Aber ehrlich: wolltet Ihr dort leben wollen?
